Cartilage Surgery

Cartilage injuries can cause swelling, stiffness, catching, and pain during bending or twisting. Left untreated, these lesions can progress and impact long-term joint health.

Why Cartilage Matters

Cartilage cushions the knee and allows smooth, pain-free movement. Damage exposes the underlying bone and increases the risk of arthritis.

How the Procedure Works

Depending on the size and location of the lesion, treatment may include:
  • Cartilage grafting
  • Osteochondral autograft or allograft transplantation
  • Resurfacing with synthetic plugs
Each approach restores a smooth cartilage surface tailored to the patient’s needs.

Recovery Expectations

Rehabilitation focuses on protecting the repair, restoring motion, and gradually improving strength and stability.

The Goal

To reduce pain, restore smooth motion, and preserve knee health.
