ACL Surgery

As a fellowship trained sports medicine surgeon, Dr. Pearle has a special interest in advancing the care of athletic knee injuries. Dr. Pearle is Editor-in-Chief of the journal Techniques in Knee Surgery and a member of the international ACL Study group. He routinely utilizes an anatomic double bundle ACL reconstruction technique. While technically demanding, this procedure may result in a more stable, functional knee after ACL surgery compared with traditional approaches.

Dr. Pearle has published a dozen articles on ACL related topics in the past 2 years alone. Because of his expertise, Dr. Pearle is often invited to discuss ACL injuries for the news media. Dr. Pearle feels strongly that patient education is essential for optimal outcome.

The videos below demonstrate surgical techniques for different graft types (hamstring, bone patellar tendon bone, and allograft or cadaver grafts). Dr. Pearle performs all of these techniques and individualizes his recommendation to match the appropriate technique to the patient.
